PRIVACY / PLAIN ENGLISH
Privacy notice.
This notice explains what information Strange Duck Ltd collects through this website, why we use it and the choices you have.
Who is responsible for your information?
Strange Duck Ltd is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. Strange Duck Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 17452407. Its registered office is Suite A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, United Kingdom, IP28 7DE. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@strangeduck.co.uk or telephone 01379 430418.
Information you give us
When you use our enquiry form, we may collect your name, organisation, email address, website address, enquiry type and anything you include in your message.
Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, special-category information or other sensitive information through the enquiry form.
Why we use enquiry information
We use it to read and respond to your enquiry, discuss requested services, take steps towards a possible contract, keep an appropriate business record and protect the website from misuse.
Depending on the situation, our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, performing a contract, or our legitimate interests in operating the business, responding to genuine enquiries and maintaining appropriate records.
Website analytics
We use a self-hosted Matomo Analytics service at analytics.strangeduck.co.uk to understand which pages are useful, how visitors reach the website and whether the site is working effectively.
- Matomo tracking cookies are disabled.
- Visitor IP addresses are masked by two bytes.
- Only the domain of a referring website is retained, rather than its full referring path or query string.
- Raw visitor-level analytics data is retained for 180 days.
- Aggregated statistical reports may be retained for longer.
We use this limited analytics information for our legitimate interests in measuring and improving the website. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or sell visitor information.
Cookies and local storage
Our Matomo configuration does not use analytics cookies. A short-lived, secure session cookie is used only when necessary for the contact form's security and operation. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Who receives the information?
Enquiries are delivered to the Strange Duck team. Information may also be processed by service providers that supply our website hosting, email, security, backup or technical infrastructure. They process information only to provide those services or meet their own legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become an ongoing customer or supplier relationship are normally retained for up to 24 months. If an enquiry leads to a contract or another business relationship, relevant records may be retained for longer where needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, maintain financial records or meet legal obligations.
Raw Matomo visitor data is retained for 180 days, as described above.
International processing
We aim to use UK-hosted and appropriately protected services. If a service provider processes information outside the UK, we will rely on an appropriate legal safeguard where one is required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or transfer. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent.
To exercise a right or ask a question, email privacy@strangeduck.co.uk. We may need enough information to confirm your identity and understand your request.
Complaints
Please contact us first if you have a concern so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office through ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when our services, suppliers or legal obligations change. The latest version will remain available on this page with its revision date.
