STRANGE DUCKLTD
WHO IS STRANGE DUCK?
Strange Duck Ltd is a small UK technology company building websites, hosting and software around real problems — with clear explanations, practical decisions and actual humans on the other end.
01 / THE SHORT VERSION
Strange Duck grew the same way most useful things do: by noticing something awkward, asking why it had to stay awkward, and building a better way to handle it.
That now covers websites for local businesses, straightforward hosting, and software products built around real workflows. Different jobs, same rule: understand the problem before reaching for the technology.
We are deliberately small. That means the people discussing the work are close to the people actually building it, and customers do not disappear into a maze of departments and ticket numbers.
02 / MEET THE FLOCK
The working team is joined by a few recurring characters who exist mostly to explain how projects become bigger, stranger and occasionally more useful than expected.

Starts with the problem, asks too many questions and usually ends up building the thing. Responsible for product direction, development and the phrase “while we’re here…” becoming dangerous.
Helps find the right conversations, opens doors and keeps the commercial side moving. Public identity intentionally withheld for now while other professional commitments remain in place.

Turns ideas into code, interfaces and occasionally much larger ideas. Particularly dangerous when a conversation begins with “what if…” and nobody sensible ends the call.

Finds the opportunities, follows up the conversations and keeps the pipeline moving. Good at turning a vague “we might need something” into an actual discussion about what would help.

Blue hair, black hoodie, permanently smug. Sid turns up wherever the company needs a little personality and considerably more confidence than the situation probably warrants.

Exists to suggest one more feature just as a project is approaching completion. If it can be automated, connected, upgraded or made unnecessarily shiny, Pete has already added it to the imaginary roadmap.

If something bends, breaks, falls over or creates an unexpected learning opportunity, Dave was probably nearby. Official motto: “It’ll be fine.” Historical evidence remains inconclusive.
For avoidance of doubt: Pete and Dave are fictional recurring brand characters. Sid is a mascot. Robbie, TBA, Jon and Karen are the humans.
03 / HOW WE WORK
The company can change products, tools and plans without changing the reasons we build things in the first place.
Technology has to earn its place by making something clearer, easier or more useful.
Useful does not mean careless. Security, reliability and maintainability are part of the job.
We test, break things safely, admit when an idea is wrong and use the result to improve the next version.
Good work should leave people with more understanding and less dependency than they started with.
04 / THE POINT
Strange Duck is a real company solving real problems. The ducks, squirrels and structural flies are optional. Building useful things is not.
